This year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) theme is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” The theme aims to recognize and celebrate women and girls’ contributions to technology and online education. Our celebration of IWD this year is aligned perfectly with this theme.
We celebrated International Women’s Week at Dista with a wonderful thought leadership session from a renowned leadership and workplace coach. Sonali Gogate and Dipti Jana conducted the ‘Velvet Gloves: Celebrating Women’ workshop.
The super interactive session discussed various topics ranging from the status quo of women in leadership roles to real-world examples of women who have scaled the corporate ladder with sheer grit. Girls of Dista also participated in a couple of thought-provoking exercises where they had to identify and pen down the characteristics they admire the most about themselves. Fearless, calm, empathetic, and independent were some critical characteristics the participants highlighted.
Ishita Lamba, Sr.Software Engineer, said, “I felt a sense of pride in voicing my strengths out loud. Also, it was great to hear my colleagues express their strengths with our community.”
Velvet Glove is used to describe someone who seems to be gentle and polite but is, in fact, strong and determined. The speakers also asked the participants to mention women around them who are ‘Velvet Gloves.’ The super interactive session discussed various topics ranging from the status quo of women in leadership roles to real-world examples of women who have scaled the corporate ladder with sheer grit.

We have always strived to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workspace! Dista has made conscious efforts to embrace equity, and we pledge to continue this impact.
